The Couch to 5k Running Program

From Fab to Fit!

The Couch to 5k Running Program

This blog is meant to share my honest opinions about a new running program I'm trying out. Now, let me begin by saying that I AM NOT A RUNNER by any means, nor have a I ever been a runner. However, I feel that I can at least try this program to see if it really works for people who want to get off the couch and onto the pavement!

Now a little bit of info about the program:

So for those of you who don't know, there is a running program for people who want to begin living a healthier lifestyle titled The Couch to 5K Running Program . Since I have a couple of months before I start my new job I figured this would be a great way for me to get in shape!

Now heres a breakdown of the program:

Its only 30 minutes a day for 3 days a week for only 9 weeks!

Each week, your workouts get progressively harder in order to really push you to the next level. By the end of the 9 weeks you should be trained to jog for 30 minutes straight. Whew! I guess we'll have to see about that!

Week one session 1:

I'll admit it. After only seeing that I would have to jog for only 60 seconds then walk for 90 seconds for 20 minutes I thought this would be a piece of cake!

Let me emphasize the thought....

Although it wasn't horrible, definitely be ready to be kickstarted into this program. I completed my first session and could really feel the results. They say that you don't have a good workout unless you sweat.   Soooo I guess this means that I had a GREAT workout! I was extremely tired but this first session had me feeling good about this program! It was either that or all of the endorphins running through my body.

Anyways, Day 2 of week one is tomorrow. I will try to post back after that experience to update you guys on whether it gets better or stays the same.

Is anyone else out there trying this running program to? How is it going for you?
I'd love to hear back, whether its for tips to keeping it a positive experience or encouragement!
